The Chisago County Environmental Services Office administers the zoning ordinance, solid waste ordinances, shoreland ordinance, septic ordinance, the Wetland Conservation Act, and the Prohibited Animals Ordinance.
The department also enforces ordinances and building codes, coordinates recycling, household hazardous waste programs, and provided education and information for all of the above.
The department is also involved in Water Resources via the County Water Management Plan and the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID).
The department also houses the Parks Office which strives to improve the quality of life through preservation with public access to unique natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities. County parks and trails offer benefits custom tailored to your interests. For fitness or pleasure we invite you to enjoy hiking, biking or skating on a 16 mile hard surfaced trail; the Sunrise Prairie Regional Trail, or explore the developing segments of the Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail. Plan your next family get together at the one of our parks, reserve a shelter for your company picnic or special event.
