I've noticed a lot of roundabouts being built around the region. Why?

Roundabouts are one of the options that is considered when constructing or reconstructing an intersection. Research has shown that there are several advantages of a roundabout over a signalized intersection including less travel delays and fewer severe crashes. In determining what the appropriate traffic control is for a specific intersection, Chisago County conducts a thorough analysis to determine the most appropriate application. Two roundabouts were constructed in our County in 2020. The first is located at TH 8/Pleasant Valley Road (CSAH 26) and the second at TH 8/Hemingway Avenue (CSAH 14).
