All new employees are required to serve a probationary period. The purpose of the probationary period is to determine whether or not the new employee has the job skills necessary to be successful in their position with Chisago County.

The probationary period is normally 6 months for the hire date and may be extended at the discretion of the employer. However, there are some positions that required a 1 year probationary period.

Holidays

Eleven holidays are observed by Chisago County employees. Part-time employees receive holiday pay at a pre-determined pro-rated amount depending on their full-time equivalency.

Chisago County has a progressive vacation accrual program and increases based upon complete years of service with the county. Vacation accrual begins at 3.1 hour per pay period (26 pay periods in a year), which equates to 10 days of vacation in the 1st year of employment. Observed Holiday Schedule
