"Youth First Club" Community Outreach

The objective of the Chisago County Sheriff's Office "Youth First Club" Community Outreach is to promote healthy lifestyles for youth through education and example.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office is a partner with the Lakes Center for Youth and Families for a "Drug-Free Chisago County." Through this partnership, the Sheriff's Office plays an active role in the "Youth First Club", an after school program serving 4th - 7th grade students.

"Youth First Club" offers kids a safe, structured environment, with adult volunteers, after school until their parents(s) return home from work. Lakes Center for Youth and Families facilitates a 15 minute anti-drug workshop at the start of each session after which youth receive a healthy snack and sign up for a one hour session with an adult volunteer.

Activities

Typical sessions include arts and craft activities, scrap booking, nail painting, sports and games, sports card collecting, snowmobile safety, a day in the life of a police officer, making healthy snacks, healthy lifestyles workshops, and more. The program is offered at no cost to over 250 participating youth.
