The East Central Drug and Violent Offenders Task Force (ECDVOTF) is a multijurisdictional law enforcement entity comprised of criminal investigators from the Pine, Isanti, Chisago and Kanabec County Sheriff’s Offices. It was established in 2012 and serves approximately 142,664 residents across 2,839 square miles.
Purpose
The purpose of the Task Force is to improve the health, safety, and security of our communities through targeted enforcement of drug and violent crime activity. ECDVOTF efforts focus primarily on the disruption of drug trafficking and distribution networks, illegal narcotics sales and smuggling, the interdiction of violent offenders and criminal gang activity, and the investigation of other complex violent crimes.
Funding & Oversight
The Task Force is funded by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) under the Narcotic and Violent Crime Enforcement grant program. The ECDVOTF is one of 21 Violent Crime Enforcement Teams (VCET) established through this program across the state. In 2010, the Violent Crime Coordinating Council (VCCC) was created through legislation to oversee these entities. To find out more about this program, please refer to the OJP website.

Each VCET, including the ECDVOTF, provides extensive data and narrative reports on a quarterly basis to the State of Minnesota. Historical reporting is publicly available and accessible on the OJP website via the VCET dashboard. The Task Force also frequently shares information on its Facebook page.
